I haven't posted in a while because of school, and because I have another blog at www.whatsonmedia.ca Check it out, I've been uploading most of my 3D stuff there.

I won't be updating this site much more, I plan on shutting it down when it comes time to pay for the hosting again. I'll keep the domain so that I can link people to my new site(s).

There will be a new flash game site coming, but not until I have a few more games made, and that might be a little due to school.

Hey!

Hope you guys don't mind a few ads, I've been meaning to get them for a while, glad they are finally up now. NOW just to get some more site traffic!

I'll be working on some more shorts, but I'll also try to do a longer animation, with an actual plot. I've got the ideas, I just need the stick with em.

I've started taking a Digital Animation Program, so I'll try to update some of the stuff we work on in class as well. We'll be doing traditional 2D (which should be fun) and we'll also be mainly focusing on 3D, which is awesome.

Hey, sorry I haven't been updating lately, but I'll try to do it more often.

A new project I've just started working on is a game, you'll see when it comes out, which wont be for a while because this game will be extremely difficult to code (for me at least).

While I'm working on that game I'll try to make a few short movies, just so that my site isn't completely dead.

I just recently got back from hawaii, and this is a beautiful sunset that I had the pleasure of seeing.

What I'm Up To

Well, hello there. I haven't made a post in a while, so I decided to do something.

I haven't been working too much in flash, but more on my school work and drawing. I might scan a few in, but I want to get a really good one finished first. In the meantime I've been working on a game with a friend and it's planned finish date is the end of April (yeah, right).

Apparently the "Don't ask Me" collab is still on, so I better get my parts in soon :S. I think it's coming along pretty good, there are some very talented animators working on this one, so I cant wait to see the outcome.

I might have a game coming out in a while, meaning next year.. maybe. But I'll try and get a few short animations out; I haven't done any in a while. After the last game I made "Defend Your Dirt", I haven't really opened flash much. However, DYD was a pretty big success (IMO) and I MIGHT make a sequel, of course following all of the suggestions and improvements so 'kindly' put by most people. I'm just kidding, almost everyone left great reviews, but there is always that one loser who slips in a meaningless comment.

Well, I've managed to buy pillowbasher.com instead of .net. So now I've gone through the grueling process of going through the flashes (that I still have the .fla files for) and changing all the links.

Basically, what happened with my other domain was:
When I originally bought the hosting (with ADM hosting) I purchased a domain from them as well. The domain was not actually registered with ADM, it was registered with another company. But for whatever reason, the company shut down, and transfered everything to another, without telling me.....
When time came to renew my domain, I got emails from this new company saying RENEW RENEW. So I clicked. But I had never set up an account with this new company because I didn't even know I was being transfered to them.
So when I contacted the company asking for my account, or how I could renew, the only way I was going to be able to renew it, was to send a Government Issued ID, and a hand written signature. But I was obviously not comfortable doing that.
So I waited for a bit to see what would happen, and then the site went down, and now to get it back I would have to pay $50, which is ridiculous, so I didn't, I just bought a new one, pillowbasher.com, from Axis Host (my same hosting company)

Well, now that the site is up, I'll be releasing my new game soon, which was sponsored by ArcadeTown.com and Grab.com

Wellll, as you can see, my website is down at the moment. It may be like that for some time now because I'm having some problems renewing my domain. Apparently the original company i used transfered everything to another, and now I don't have a username/password for this other company.

I found this funny ad on msn. I saw it in the corner of my eye, but I wasn't sure if I saw it correctly because it was fairly outrageous. "Diced Ham Cookies" is what I saw. And low and behold I googled it and that is what I saw.

No idea what the ad is for tho... hopefully not the cookies.

It's been a while since my last post, so I decided to make a quick one. There's probably something I could show you but I can't think of anything worth while at the moment.

I have been busy with work and school, but that's not really why I haven't done anything. I'm just lazy, and I'm getting bored with this. I'm thinking about making a random thought blog, where every so often I'll just put up a post of what I'm thinking at that moment in time. (ex. I love the after taste of jelly beans)

So ya, I put up one of my old sketches, and made this post. This may be the last post for another week... or month. I'll try to get back to you soon.

Short Hiatus

Hey, sorry for my short hiatus, not that anyone actually noticed....

I was on vacation for a few days, and before that I was on another short trip, nothing much just something to do to relax. I didn't really come up with any new ideas, but I did sketch a few drawings that I may post here, I'll have to decide if they are good enough first.

I'm still working on those few projects that I have no idea when or if they will be finished. I pray to god that I finish at least ONE by the end of my summer vacation. If I don't, I'm not sure when I'll get time to work on any flash because I'm starting gr.12 and I don't want to be distracted. All my effort will be put into school this year because I want to get a good education and be ready for college or uni. Originally I was thinking about Emily Carr, but I'm not sure anymore because I do enjoy things other than art.

This post is only to let you know I'm still here, kind of working. If I get another chance I'll post the progress I've made on some of the projects I'm working on. I don't know what's going on with the Flash Regs Collab......

Anyway, thats it for now.

Hey, sorry I haven't posted in a while. It's not that I didn't want to post, it's that I didn't really have anything to post.

The new Newgrounds layout is up now, and there is a new user page feature that has it's own little blog. So I may be posting there more than here, but of course I'll try to post here as much as possible. You can check out my user page here.

Anyway, the reason I made this post was to show some of my old sprites that I had to do for a school game project.

Tell me what you think, it was my first attempt at sprites, so that's the reason some of them suck.

New Doodle -

I'm not sure why I named him peas, but he looked like the kind of person who would wear a pea green shirt.

I've joined the Flash Regs Collab on Newgrounds. It's going to be a massive minigame/movie thing. Where you have to figure out a murder (or murders...). A whole bunch of flash regs are being killed off, but I don't want to give away any more of the story. Everyone who signed up is paired, one ASer and one graphics artist (me). I'll be working with Kirk-Cocaine from Newgrounds.

I'm still helping out Supa-Monky, and he's helping me out. We haven't really done much for the game at the moment, at least I haven't, he's been working non stop. The last thing I did for him was make him a level.

I signed up for Deviant Art, just because I wanted to keep track of Supa-Monkys games. I've also discovered mr-insomnia777. He's an awesome animator, his style reminds me of Bonus Stage.

An interesting doodle I made. There is no meaning too it, it's just a picture of a very exaggerated hip movement.

Not much is new. I did, however, join the Flash Regs Collab, on Newgrounds. You partner up, and you create a mini-game and a little intro and outro to it. All the mini-games are compiled into one massive game/movie.

I'm thinking about making a really quick little game right now because I haven't submitted anything for a while. But don't worry all my other projects WILL eventually be completed.

Creature comforts was originally made by Nick Park, the same guy who made Wallace and Gromit. Most of the voices are just from random British people who they interviewed. My uncle introduced me to this very entertaining show. People of all ages can watch it.

Robot Chicken is mostly for teens and up. I think it's hilarious. It's quite random which, as you can see from my cartoons, I love. Parodies are always awesome.

Here is a little bit about the Hector doodle.

He is constantly made fun of by the octopi, because he was born with only 5 tentacles. This is the reason for his sadness, and you make him sadder by laughing at him. So don't. You can help Hector by Subscribing to Pillowbasher :D.

Anyway, I'll be putting up a new doodle in about a week, and I'll try to post daily and tell you what's new. Right now I've created a little storyboard for a new flash (with a plot this time). Not much is new, I just thought I'd make a quick post to tell you what's going on.

As I may have said before, Supa-Monky is helping me out with some enemy AI for my game. As you can see, from his gallery, he is an awesome actionscripter. Hopefully I'll get some levels finished and I'll finish the game soon.

I really want to start making flash movies WITH plots. If anyone has some tips on how to concentrate and stick to working on something for more than 5 minutes please help! Of course the movies I will make will be random, but I want a basic storyline.

I'll have a new doodle soon.

I decided to squeeze in some time to do a short part for the Third Black and White Collab. My part is really short as you can see, but I had fun doing it.

Sorry for not updating for so long, I'll try to sum up everything that's been going on.

The game hasn't really gone anywhere, but I'm still doing my best to find sometime to work on it. There have been quite a few top down shooters being submitted to Newgrounds lately, and I don't want to seem like I'm copying anyone.

The Trendy Collab was submitted a little while ago, and it was awarded the Daily 3rd Place award.

The Black and White Collab will be done soon, and I entered a really short part, so I'll keep you posted when it gets submitted.

I've been working on random little animations as usual, but nothing long enough to be a movie. I may do a thing at the end of the year like Xperimental Xperimentation, where I compile all my unfinished flashes into one massive movie.

I'm doing stuff for the Loneliest number collab, but I'm probably not going to have that big of a part in it.

Sam, an awesome programmer, is helping me out with some of the code in my game, but he is also pretty busy with his super cool physics engine.

New Weapons!

NEW WEAPONS ADDED IN THE GAME

Hey, I've been working on the game a bit, and I've discovered how to make more weapons. Before I was limited to only rapid fire, and single shot, but I've taken a few more tutorials and found out how to change the fire rate, and speed of bullets. Your character now also moves slower, or faster, depending on what weapon you have out.

I still have to figure out a way to get the baseball bat back in, because I'm thinking about adding some samurai swords or something.

Anyways, check out the new weapons, I'll be updating every time I fix some new bugs, so make sure you keep checking it out. I'm still looking for stories.

I was also asked to do a part for the "Trendy" Collab on Newgrounds. That should be coming out shortly. The guy who was supposed to do my part went missing or something, so they asked me to do it. I'll be sure to tell you when it is released.

Finally, after 4 months of grueling work, the Have a Nice Day Collab, is FINISHED! It was awarded Daily 2nd Place on Newgrounds as well. I had a great time working on it, and posting random stuff in the collab's thread in the Newgrounds forum. Hopefully I'll find another collab to join that I will enjoy just as much. Check it out:

Classical Music

Lately, while I'm working on homework, flash or any other computer work, I've been listening to classical music. I heard some stuff about if you listen to music with no lyrics, it will help you concentrate more, and it works! I only started when I was at a friends house while working on my sites graphics. He always plays really bad music, so I suggested we put something else on. The first thing that came to my mind was classical music. So we put it on, and we got more work done than we've ever done before.

If you don't have any classical music, just go in iTunes and from the Library (left) menu, select Radio>Classical. There is a whole list there. I find the older more "Royal" sounding ones are more effective.

New Game "The Adventures of?"

Lately I've been practicing Action Script, and I have come up with a new game engine, and I have decided I'm going to make an Adventure/RPG game. All I have made right now is the basic code. Graphics still need to be improved, and some tweaking has to be done to the AS. The main thing I need right now is the story. If you have any ideas what the story should be, please email me or comment on this post.

Here are the controls so you get a basic idea of what kind of a game it is:

W A S D Keys - move your character around
Mouse - aims your character, and shoots/attacks when you click
1,2,3,4 - change weapons (1=Fist, 2=Vat, 3=Pistol, 4=Uzi)

Screen shots will be posted once I get the graphics done better.

Computer Troubles

About my computer...

After I had signed up for ADM hosting, I was trying to find the place to upload everything, so I asked someone on Newgrounds, the guy who told me about ADM in the first place. He then sent me a link to a file that I was supposed to install a program to help upload my stuff, and me, being in a rush as usual, just clicked the link (I later found out it was not actually him, and that he had been tricked by the same people before me). It installed something, but I had no idea what at the time, until later that night when I shut down my computer. My shut down sound had been changed. I quickly restarted my computer to see what was wrong. A message popped up that told me my computer had been compromised, and was now in possession of a certain group of people (whose name I shall not say). After the message it started up, with a different start up sound, and my desktop background had been changed. My Newgrounds account had a new password, and I was not able to log on, or send a "Forgot your password" email. Wade helped me get that account back. The virus also disabled system restore, so I was forced to do a system recovery to completely wipe my hard drive.

So now my computer is back to normal, I think. And I will be much more careful in what I download/install.

This is just a post to let you know I'm still alive.

These graphics are just temporary, I will (hopefully) have the new graphics by next Saturday. I just wanted to leave a message and tell you how everything was going, and that the site hasn't died.

The Have a Nice Day Collab, is almost complete, there are just a few more parts to be finished, and a menu to be decided on. It seems to be going good, you may even see some more collabs from me later on. It has been a great experience and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

It's exam week, as you can see from "This Weeks Doodle". Luckily I have only 1 exam, (in my worst subject) Social Studies. But I also get all of next week off, so thats when I plan on finishing up those graphics with my friend. I am also working on a few games that I plan on finishing soon.

Oh, I'd like to mention that "This Weeks Doodle", does not mean I will post a new doodle every week, I will try to, but I don't usually get around to it for about 2 weeks.

That's all for now I guess, I'll post later about the problems I had with my computer.

HEY HEY! The new site is finally up. Unfortunately, pillowfighter.com, pillowfighter.net and pillowfighter.ca are all taken. So the new name is Pillowbasher, and you can find the new site at www.pillowbasher.net
The graphics will all be getting a makeover and the names will all have to be changed to pillowbasher. That may take some time, but it WILL get done.
I also have an unfortunate story of what happened to my computer, which I will post at a later date. Right now I'm just glad the site is up.
The next thing you should be seeing from me is the "Have a Nice Day Collab". I'm doing it with a bunch of people on Newgrounds, ShortMonkey is the leader. That should be done soon, I'm feeling quite good about it.

New Layout

Hey everyone. I hope you like the new layout of the site. It took a while to get up, as you may have noticed, but I think it turned out pretty good.

There still has to be some tweaking with the graphics for the site, but this is basically it. The "This Week's Doodle" may not stay up for that long, that's just there until I figure out what I want to put in that space. I'd also like to fill the space on the left of that.

I'll be trying to work on flash much more often now, so I can get this site on it's feet, and maybe even start making some money :D
